Where am I Going to Get My Cheese?

Aurora and Sam start the show with a Disney Song Quiz before getting into the current status of The UK Election in ,”What’s Burning?” “It’s Bro Time” features Kitlas and Abby who talk about what reading has in common with pro sports and “Abbycadabra” is back with Summertime Comfort Food recipes from New England. The episode wraps with, “That’s Showbiz” where CorBen and Samantha tear apart the music video for, “Señiorita” and cancel Miranda Sings. It’s all here, #atthenewsstand

To kick off this episode Samantha and Aurora get into the upcoming British elections and what this means in regards to Brexit. First off, Theresa May is officially out and the country is now deciding between two replacements from the conservative party; Boris Johnson and Jeremy Hunt. Either way Brexit is still on schedule to happen on October 31st, 2019 with some speculating it may be a “no-deal” Brexit, meaning no trade deals would be in place. Once again our hosts ask, “Where will I get my cheese?!”

Next up Abby and Kitlas are back with, “It’s Bro Time” to discuss all things sports! First up they discuss women’s soccer and the upcoming quarter finals leading to the World Cup. They give their predictions and some history of the sport. Then they get into the equal pay debate, specifically between the men’s and women’s soccer teams. With the women’s team placing so often and the men’s team not placing it seems quite unfair that the women make less. They wrap things up with a rundown of off-season activities that sports fans and athletes can get into while summer is here.

“Abbycadabra” is back this week with Sam and Abby giving us their favorite summer comfort foods. These are two great meals that will make you feel warm inside while still beating the summer heat. First is Abby’s recipe for Crab Cakes and a Dijon Dill Aioli:

1 egg

1 1/2-2 cups Panko bread crumbs

1/2tsp chili powder

1/4tsp pepper

  • Drain and pick through crab to ensure no shells

  • Small dice red pepper and shallot and add to crab

  • Add chili powder, salt and pepper and mix gently don’t break up the crab

  • Whisk egg and add to mixture

  • Add panko to desired consistency

  • Cook for 6-7minutes per size

  • Makes 4 crab cakes

Dijon Dill Aioli

4tbl Mayo

1/2 tbl Dijon mustard

1/4 fresh lemon juice

Salt and pepper

  • We follow the delicious crab cakes up with Samantha’s delectable Fish Chowder:

  • Serves: Six

  • Prep time: 30 minutes

  • Ready to eat: 1 hour

  • Get two soup pots and add water to one (to boil) and broth to the other (medium heat.)

  • Boil the fish until its opaque (about 10 minutes)

  • Cut up potatoes and celery and add to the broth along with the butter and salt and pepper to taste. Add in the corn too.

  • Strain and dd the cooked fish to the broth.

  • Cook the bacon and cut into bite size pieces. Add to the broth.

  • Add the heavy cream and heat for at least a half an hour. Add the chopped dill 10 minutes before serving.

To wrap up this episode we welcome back CorBen and Samantha to get into their new segment, “That’s Showbiz!” This week they break down the new music video for “Señiorita” and how it’s basically cheap, softcore porn. This leads into a discussion on the future of music and how both artists are better performers than they appear to be in the music video. They wrap things up with talk of the comedian/singer Colleen Ballinger who has risen to fame with her character, “Miranda Sings” but recenty flopped with her Netflix documentary.
