THE BIG TWO OH!
Dicks & Politics turns 20 and the squad is in full force. We welcome back CorBen who has been in Connecticut rehearsing for a show. He will give us a review of the new movie, “Us” but not before Aurora gives us a frustrating Brexit update. Then the guys from "Game Over" introduce you to their fourth and final cohost, Steve and they discuss how they have made lifelong friends online through gaming. Kitlas does a quick Wrestle Mania run down and Jon gives us the 411 on the best ice hockey players of all time.
This episode of Dicks and Politics starts off hot with a new segment of “What’s Burning.” Aurora joins our hosts Samantha, Addriana and CorBen to discuss the still unknown territory of Brexit. The conversation begins with applause for the effort Theresa May has put in to achieve a deal for Brexit. This past week her third deal was denied even though she offered to step down and let someone else, as yet unknown, handle the negotiations between the United Kingdom and the rest of the European Union. Then Samantha and Aurora get into the fact that a “No-Deal Brexit” seems highly likely with the April 12th deadline fast approaching. Finally they speculate as to why there has been no achievable deal for Brexit. Is the deal too soft? Can the UK handle a “hard” deal? Are there too many options to decide upon? Tune in to hear the hosts’ thoughts.
This week on “Hashtag, Hashtag” we welcome back CorBen with a riveting review of Jordan Peele’s new movie, “Us.” Be warned folks, there are spoilers in this segment! Jordan Peele is well known for his comedy sketch show, “Key and Peele” with Keegan Michael Key, as well as Oscar winning movie, “Get Out.” “Us” was written, directed, and produced by Jordan Peele and, according to CorBen, like Alfred Hitchcock in 2019. CorBen and Samantha get into the plot of the movie and reveal that, of course, there is a huge plot twist at the end. Addriana then points out the fact that child actors are dominating the thriller film and television scene currently leading to an informative discussion with Corben. All in all this movie is a tale of human morality that truly gets your brain thinking.
This week is the final segment of “Game Over” for Dicks and Politics. Don’t get sad though, starting April 11th you’ll get to tune in every Thursday to chat about all things gaming with Ian, Bern (or Stephen from the UK), Kirk, and Steve(from Maryland). This is Steve’s first show so we get into his specifics such as, how he got into gaming, the first game he remembers playing and beating, and his favorite game of all time. Once introductions are done the guys get into the social element of gaming and how each of them have made impactful relationships through gaming. From there they get into their hopes and dreams for being their own podcast. From wanting to break down the stigma towards gamers to interacting with the audience these gentlemen have big plans for the future!
Mike Kitlas and Jon De Castro are back for another segment of “It’s Bro Time.” Kitlas starts us off with news about the upcoming Wrestlemania. This year it’s being held in New York City with events starting Wednesday, April 3rd and going to the big event at the Metlife Stadium with over 80,000 people in attendance. For the first time in the 35 year history of the WWE women will be featured at main events and the closing of the show. The biggest pay-per-view of the year will feature Ronda Rousey, Becky Lynch, and Charlotte Flair. Together Kitlas and Sam dive into the celebrity aspect of Wrestlemania with Colin Jost and Michael Che jumping in the ring for the annual Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royale, a 30 person match with one person left in the ring. After all this talk about wrestling we head straight into the National Hockey League with Jon. As we did with the MLB Jon and Samantha break down the history of the NHL, the Original Six, the positions, the gear, scoring, and the fighting. They delve into into Jon’s top five male and female hockey players of all time and how the Great Depression affected the NHL. You don’t want to miss this exciting and informative segment.
